Princess Eugenie delighted royal fans at the weekend when she shared a never-before-seen family portrait to social media.

The 28-year-old uploaded the childhood snap to Instagram on Sunday and captioned the adorable snap: “90s flashback with Bea and parents to when my father commanded HMS Cottesmore.”

The image shows the young princess and her sister Beatrice, now 29, sitting on the laps of their parents, the Duke and Duchess of York.

The sweet snap shows the family on board the HMS Cottesmore, of which Andrew was commander between 1992 and 1994. The Royal Naval vessel was deployed around Europe and the Mediterranean during the prince’s tenure, before he left to brush up on his flying skills during a stint with the Naval Air Squadron, where he served until 1996.

In the gorgeous family snap, Sarah Ferguson is seen wearing a black dress with silver detailing, while her two daughters are wearing matching white frocks with HMS Cottesmore printed on the waistband.

As always, royal fans were quick to send their best wishes, with one writing: “This is a lovely photo! Thanks for sharing it with us”.

Another added: “You mum looked fabulous at your cousin’s wedding, I was happy to see her there. Now on to yours.” And a third wrote: “Gorgeous. Hope your parents re-marry. They’re so cute together.”

Princess Eugenie, who will tie the knot with long-term partner Jack Brooksbank in Windsor this October, has been busy attending royal events in recent weeks. She joined her grandmother the Queen, 92, and cousin Prince William, 35, at a Buckingham Palace garden party last Thursday.

But despite the bevy of high-ranked royals at the party, it was Eugenie’s outfit that really caught attention. The young royal ditched tradition for a more funereal blue-black ensemble. Eugenie wore a button-fronted dress with a nipped-in waist and unusual fluted sleeves and a matching hat with a short veil over her face.

Princess Eugenie has been criticised in the past for some of her event wear, particularly for the eye-catching headwear she chose for Prince William’s wedding to Catherine in 2011. But the princess has looked more stylish and sophisticated of late, and chose to wear a baby-blue, 60s-style mini to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding that proved she’s definitely able to pick a hit look when the occasion strikes.
