The world is still buzzing after news broke that Prince Harry is engaged to Meghan Markle.
Clarence House made the exciting announcement last night, revealing that Prince Charles was “delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms Meghan Markle.”
The happy couple have now given their first TV interview and explained just how they came to be.
Speaking to BBC’s Mishal Husain, the glowing couple recounted the night that Prince Harry proposed.
“It was just your standard, typical for us,” Prince Harry said.
His gushing bride-to-be added: “It was just a cosy night. What were we doing? Just roasting chicken.”
Who would have thought that that’s how the Prince would propose?
Ms Markle continued: “It was just an amazing surprise. It was so sweet and natural and very romantic.”
The former actress revealed that Prince Harry did get down on one knee and that it was an instant yes.
“As a matter of fact, I could barely let you finish proposing,” she said as she looked lovinging into the 33-year-old’s eyes.
He added: “She didn’t even let me finish. She said, ‘Can I say yes? Can I say yes?’ and then there was hugs and I had the ring in my finger and was like, ‘Can I give you the ring?’”
The moment was private between the happy couple, with Prince Harry feeling proud that he caught Ms Markle by surprise with his proposal.
They said they were first introduced by a mutual friend but said they were going to protect their privacy.
Prince Harry said they did have two back-to-back dates in London last July and after four weeks went on holiday to Botswana.
He said that it was “crucial” that the two had some alone time to properly get to know each other.
The pair are expected to wed next Spring, with further details to be revealed in due course.
