Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged, Palace announces

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Prince Harry has popped the question!

Clarence House made the happy announcement on social media on Monday, saying Prince Charles was “delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms Meghan Markle”.

“The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.

The Palace revealed that Harry proposed in London, although they did not say when, and that he had “sought and received the blessing of Ms Markle’s parents”.

The Queen and Prince Philip said they were “delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness”.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also released a statement, saying they were overjoyed for the pair.

“We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together,” they said.

Kensington Palace said Harry and Meghan will appear for a photo call at Kensington Palace on Monday afternoon (London time) and that they will appear in a television interview in the evening.

Following rumours late week that Meghan had vacated her home in Toronto, Canada, the Palace confirmed she will live with Harry in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.

The couple have been dating for about 18 months, after being introduced by mutual friends in 2016.

They have spent much of their relationship travelling between London and Toronto, where Meghan films her hit law drama Suits.

Speculation had been building of an imminent engagement over the past few months, following the news that the actress had quit her show and was preparing to focus more on her charity work.

Are you happy for them? Do you have a message of congratulations or some advice for them?
