Why Meghan Markle rejected Prince William and Princess Catherine’s latest peace offering

Amid Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s ongoing feud with the Royal Family, it is the senior members of the Royal Family who seem to dominate headlines.

However, there is one forgotten casualty of the continued stand-off, that being the younger members of the Royal Family who are unable to spend quality time together.

In an effort to remedy this matter, William and Catherine reportedly offered an invitation to Harry and Meghan, inviting them to bring their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to the UK to meet their cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, in hopes of fostering a closer family bond despite the distance.

However, according to royal author Tom Quinn, the offer was not welcomed with open arms by Markle.

“William and Kate have suggested that Meghan and Harry bring their children and that the two couples and their families try to make up, but the suggestion is not leading anywhere so far,” Quinn recently told The Mirror.

“There is no way Meghan would bring the children to the UK.”

In addition, previous reports from fellow royal author Omid Scobie have indicated that Meghan has no desire to return to the UK, given her refusal to “dive back into the soap opera”.

Archie and Lilibet have rarely accompanied their parents on visits to the UK, they did not visit in 2023 despite Harry making several trips and did not accompany Prince Harry to the UK this year when he rushed to be by his father’s side following news of the King’s cancer diagnosis.

While reports indicate that Archie and Lillibet will not be reuniting with their royal relatives anytime soon, Prince Harry is expected to have a long-awaited reunion with Prince William, as speculation mounts regarding Harry’s plans to visit his brother and Princess Catherine during an upcoming trip to the UK.

Harry will be making a return to the UK in May to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games and Quinn believes that, in light of Catherine’s cancer diagnosis, Harry will make the effort to visit with his estranged brother and sister-in-law.

“Given Kate’s cancer diagnosis, Harry will certainly make efforts to see his brother and Kate when he returns to the UK in May,” Quinn told The Mirror.

“If it happens at all it’s to be a very brief carefully choreographed meeting and organised to last a short time so that the brothers can avoid any difficult conversations.

“At the same time Harry knows how it will look if he comes back to the UK and doesn’t see his brother and Kate. It’s going to be a very awkward time.”
