‘We love you’: Celine Dion moves fans with touching tribute to René Angélil on anniversary of his passing

Fans have rushed to social media after singing sensation Celine Dion shared a moving tribute to her late husband and manager René Angélil on the ninth anniversary of his passing.

The 56-year-old Canadian chanteuse shared a photo to Instagram that captured herself with her seldom-seen three sons, René-Charles, 23, and twins Eddy and Nelson, 14 who she shared with Angélil.

In the adorable snap, Dion can be seen sitting on an outdoor sofa with her boys, all dressed in colour-coordinated beige and white outfits, with small pots of fir trees topped with red bows poking out in the background.

Writing on behalf of herself and their children, the All By My Self singer shared how they, “can’t believe you’ve been gone nine years already.”

“Not a day goes by that we don’t feel your presence, RC, Eddy, Nelson and I,” she continued.

Angélil, 73, died from throat cancer in 2016. He had been Dion’s manager since 1981 and after the relationship turned romantic, the couple tied the not in 1994.

She went on to write that Angélil was her “greatest champion, my partner, and the one who always saw the best in me.”

“I honor you and you are forever missed mon amour.”

Dion then concluded the message on behalf of the family.

“We love you. Celine xx.”

Deeply moved by her tribute, Dion’s fans rushed to her Instagram page, with many sharing their condolences and their amazement at how grown up her sons were.

“Céline and sons, you’ve always honoured René’s memory in such beautiful ways,” one commenter wrote.

“Can’t believe how grown the boys are. Rene would be proud.”

“Your love is so beautiful and pure that it makes me believe in true love and that it transcends death,” another added.

“Beautiful picture…. René would be proud. Sending so much love.”

“Hard to believe 9 years already, but what a legacy he has left behind and how proud he would be of you and the boys.”

“He is watching over you all & so proud of your courage, strength & love.”

Dion also likes to share happier moments on social media and recently posted a beautiful tribute to Angélil on what would have been their 30th wedding anniversary.

The Power of Love hitmaker shared a black-and-white photo from their wedding day on Instagram, showing Dion in her iconic white satin, beaded gown with a crystal headdress and voluminous tulle veil.

In the snap, the couple gaze lovingly into each others’ eyes and Dion has captioned the post with a moving message on behalf of herself and their sons.

“You still fill our hearts, every day. You are everything for us. We miss you so much,” she wrote.

In addition to losing her beloved husband, Dion has faced significant challenges in recent years, stepping away from the stage as she battled Stiff-Person Syndrome (SPS).

Despite the setbacks, she made a courageous comeback and performed at the 2024 Paris Olympics where wowed audiences with her live rendition of Hymne à l’amour for the opening ceremony.
