Gorgeous Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has surprised viewers during the broadcast of the prerecorded “Together for Christmas” carols night she hosted earlier this month.

While the Duchess made headlines last week for the sweet moment she shared with her husband, Prince William, she’s now back in the spotlight for a completely different event that occurred on the night – showcasing her musical talents in a performance she herself reportedly suggested.

Kate gave her very first public performance on the piano, playing a song with Scottish singer Tom Walker for the carols event. The song the two played, “For Those Who Can’t Be Here”, reportedly “struck a chord” with Kate, leading to her reaching out to Walker to suggest that she and he perform the piece together at carols night.

People reports that Kate has found great solace and “comfort” in playing the piano during the pandemic, as she used to play as a child.

A royal source spoke to People saying:

“Music was very important to the Duchess during the lockdowns … She also recognizes the powerful way in which music brings people together — especially during difficult times. For these reasons, she was keen to be part of Tom’s performance in this way.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also shared a number of Instagram posts of Kate performing her piano piece, and at least a dozen posts across their social media platforms celebrating the carols evening itself.
