Princess Mary’s eldest son Christian has tested positive for coronavirus. The Danish royal family confirmed the news in a statement on Monday, revealing the 15-year-old prince caught the virus following an outbreak at his high school.
The palace confirmed the prince, who is second-in-line to the Danish throne behind his father Prince Frederik, is now isolating at Frederik VIII’s Palace in Copenhagen. As a precaution, his parents and siblings Princess Isabella, 13, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, nine, are also self-isolating.
“Sunday, December 6, 2020, the Crown Prince couple were briefed about a local outbreak of Covid-19 at Tranegårdskolen in Hellerup,” the statement reads. “Subsequently, Prince Christian has tested positive for Covid-19.
“Other than the Crown Prince family, Prince Christian has not been in contact with other members of the royal family very recently.
“In connection with the test result, the Royal Danish House has received guidance from the Danish Patient Safety Authority concerning infection detection and testing of the Crown Prince family. In coming days, the family will stay in isolation in Frederik VIII’s Palace until it is once again safe to discontinue the isolation according to the existing guidelines.”

Royal fans were quick to comment on the post and wish Christian a speedy recovery, with one writing, “Good recovery to H.K.H Prince Christian.”
Another commented, “Really good recovery for HRH Prince Christian.” While a third said, “Hope he gets through it well.”
It comes almost two months after Christian celebrated his 15th birthday. At the time, his parents shared a series of new photos on social media to mark the occasion.
In the first picture, which was posted to the Danish royal family’s Instagram account at the time, the prince could be seen posing in a khaki shirt and white T-shirt, while another snap showed him posing cooly in a navy-blue sports jacket, white shirt and beige pants.

A third image saw him in the same outfit only this time in black-and-white. While the fourth image was a close-up of the prince smiling widely at the camera.
