Princess Eugenie has bravely uploaded an image of her X-rays, showing for the very first time the pins and rods she had put around her spine to treat her scoliosis.
Honouring International Scoliosis Awareness Day, the young royal, 28, shared the image with her thousands of Instagram followers with a heartfelt message of thanks to the hospital who operated on her. The royal underwent surgery at the age of just 12 years old.
Taking to social media on Saturday she wrote: “Today is International Scoliosis Awareness Day and I’m very proud to share my X Rays for the very first time.
“I also want to honour the incredible staff at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital who work tirelessly to save lives and make people better. They made me better and I am delighted to be their patron of the Redevelopment Appeal.”
Fans were quick to comment, with one writing: “You are amazing! Your genuineness makes me even prouder to be a royalist!” Another added: “Princess Eugenie, you are admired by us all.”
The princess is one of the few royals to have a personal Instagram account, and regularly updates her followers with insights into her busy schedule.
On Thursday, the young royal stepped out in a summery green dress for a visit to her old school.
Eugenie has been criticised in the past for some of her event wear, particularly for the eye-catching headwear she chose for Prince William’s wedding to Catherine in 2011. But the princess has looked more stylish and sophisticated as of late and looked stunning as she took a trip down memory lane at her old school, Marlborough College, to open the newly refurbished Memorial Hall.
The 28-year-old, kept it relatively simple in a green dress, which she team with a nude belt and matching pair of heels. She showed off her shorter hair in a casual style, and appeared to have a marvellous time seeing how her old stomping ground had changed since she graduated in 2008.
Princess Eugenie will marry her long-term boyfriend later this year at St George’s Chapel, where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wed last month.
