Royal fans have been treated to a sweet video of Princess Diana and Prince William from 1985. The unearthed clip, which has recently been circulating on social media, shows three-year-old William helping his mother re-do her make-up.

In the video, the young prince can be seen excitedly dabbing his mother’s face with a powder pad, as Diana affectionately screws up her nose before smiling at him. William is dressed in a red, white and blue check shirt, while the Princess of Wales sports a beautiful light-blue polka-dot dress. The video was posted to the Instagram account @diana.legacy.

According to Hello! magazine, the video was taken in 1985, when the pair were taking part in a family photoshoot alongside Prince Charles and one-year-old Prince Harry.

Delighted royal fans were quick to comment on the cute clip, with one Instagram user writing, “Funny, I use to do the same thing with my mom [sic] when I was a boy in the ’80s. Diana reminded me of [my] mother. Classy.”

Another added, “Just love this.” While a third wrote, “How beautiful.”

The vide comes just a few days after The Crown’s Emma Corrin, who plays Princess Diana in the fourth season, joked the royal’s hair made her look like the late singer George Michael.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the 24-year-old uploaded a series of behind-the-scenes snaps and videos from the set, with one showing the actress holding up a phone screen bearing an image of the famous singer sporting a very similar hairdo. Emma can be seen posing alongside it in a retro-looking purple jumper.

The actress’ comparison is interesting, considering the Princess of Wales reportedly had a close relationship with the late musician.
