Prince William and Kate Middleton’s eldest son Prince George left royal fans in a frenzy on Saturday, February 26, after he made an unscheduled appearance to watch a rugby match between England’s Six Nations and Wales alongside his royal parents at Twickenham Stadium in London.
The Duke of Cambridge, 39, and the Duchess of Cambridge, 40, were photographed next to their 8-year-old son, bundled up in coats as they happily watched the match.
The not-so-little prince appeared to be in great spirits wearing a red and navy puffer jacket and brought a stuffed animal to view the festivities with him.
His mother oozed elegance in a black and white houndstooth patterned coat over a high-necked black sweater, while the duke looked dapper wearing a dark blue sweater over a button-up shirt with a red tie.
After the game, George and his parents met with other game patrons where Kate marvelled over her son’s athletic expertise. According to US Weekly, Kate told her fellow attendees that her eldest son frequently enjoyed “rugby tackling her,” according to a Twitter thread by Sunday Times‘ royal reporter Roya Nikkhah. The mother of three also added that younger son Louis already “loves the [team’s] kit” and uniform.
“[Our kids’ sporting rivalry has become] quite the thing in the house, [but I’m] trying to stay out of it,” William reportedly quipped.

The sports rivalry doesn’t just apply to the kids, the married couple went head to head for the first time since the Queen, who has tested positive for Covid-19 last week, made her the Rugby Football Union’s new patron– a role Kate had taken over from her brother-in-law Prince Harry, while, William has been the patron of the Welsh Rugby Union since 2016.

Kate scored a victory over William as her team defeated Wales 23-19.
Their appearance comes after they tweeted their support for Ukraine in a rare political comment-insisting they “stand” with the people of the war-torn nation, who “bravely fight” for their future.
