Prince Albert of Monaco and his twins Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques have attended two major sporting events alone, marking yet another public appearance without Princess Charlene.

Albert was spotted at the Louis II stadium in Monaco for a league one football match between AS Monaco and Reims on Sunday, February 27. He also attended the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season Round 27 match played between AS Monaco vs Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul on February 25.

During Friday’s basketball match, Albert seemed to be enjoying the action as he enthusiastically waved pom poms with his twin children and cheered on his home team.

Charlene’s notable absence at both of these events is the latest in a long-running series of missed engagements by the Princess due to “exhaustion, both emotional and physical.”

Her health woes began during a visit to South Africa in May, 2021 that saw her stranded in the country due to “a serious sinus infection and bouts of surgery,” which prevented Charlene from flying.

Charlene’s extended absence sent the rumour mill into overdrive with many speculating marriage troubles between the Princess and her husband Prince Albert.

Rumours of marriage troubles began to swirl when Prince Albert was photographed with actress Sharon Stone at the Monte-Carlo Gala for Planetary Health and days later when the Hollywood star was spotted alongside the royal at the James Bond: No Time To Die premiere in Monaco.

Prince Albert quickly slammed rumours of perceived marriage woes between the pair, telling Peopleshe didn’t leave because she was mad at me or at anybody else.”

“She was going down to South Africa to reassess her Foundation’s work down there and to take a little time off with her brother and some friends,” he said.

“It was only supposed to be a weeklong, 10-day maximum stay, and because she had this infection all these medical complications arose.”

Charlene eventually returned to Monaco after an eight-month absence, however, only days later the royal was missing in action yet again after the Palace announced she would be recovering in an undisclosed location as she continues her recovery.

“Their serene highnesses have both decided that a period of calm and rest is necessary to ensure the very best recovery for Princess Charlene’s health,” the palace said.

“As soon as her health permits, the princess will again share with joy convivial moments with the Monegasque.”

Charlene made a public statement on February 28, her first since her twins birthday in December 2021, after she agreed to appear in a Manga comic.

The reclusive royal told Le Parisien she was “delighted with the release of the sixth volume of Blitz, magnificently enhanced by Garry Kasparov and drawn by Daitaro Nishihara.”

“The idea of participating in the Blitz adventure immediately attracted me, and I thank Cédric Biscay for inviting me to discover the manga world.”

Charlene’s character makes an appearance outside a Monte Carlo casino where she talks to two children at a chess tournament.

Although Charlene’s character may be heading out for a night at a Monte Carlo casino in reality she is still recovering from her health woes.

In a recent statement made by Prince Albert to Monaco’s local newspaper the Monaco-Matin, the Prince reported that the princess was “doing much better”.

“I hope she will be back in the Principality very soon,” he said.

What do you think is the cause of Princess Charlene's latest absence?
