Prince Albert of Monaco has announced that his wife, Princess Charlene, is recovering well following her ongoing health battle with a mysterious illness.

In a statement made by Prince Albert to the country’s local newspaper the Monaco-Matin, the Prince reported that the princess was “doing much better”.

“Princess Charlene is doing much better, and I hope she will be back in the Principality very soon,” he said.

The statement comes just weeks after the Monaco Palace issued a statement to the public regarding Princess Charlene’s health and her inability to attend one of Monaco’s largest religious celebrations.

“The convalescence of H.S.H. Princess Charlene is currently continuing in a very satisfying and encouraging way,” the statement read.

“The Princess will unfortunately not be able to attend the Saint Dévote festivities this year.

“With her husband H.S.H. Prince Albert II, she shares her heart with all Monegasques and residents on the occasion of these celebrations.”

Despite this, the Palace had also noted that the Princess’s recovery and dental work would “still take several weeks”.

In May, 2021, Princess Charlene underwent multiple corrective surgeries after developing a severe Ear, Nose and Throat infection upon visiting her home country of South Africa. The Princess remained in South Africa for six months whilst she underwent the relevant treatments.

On November 8, 2021, the Princess returned to her Monaco residence and was pictured smiling alongside husband Prince Albert and the couple’s two young children.

Upon returning home, Prince Albert told People that the Princess was suffering from severe exhaustion, both “physically and emotionally” after contracting the infection. She was admitted to a health clinic just outside of Monaco where she continues to recover from ‘mysterious’ unconfirmed health effects.

During her absence, she was unable to see her seven-year-old twins for their birthday or celebrate her 10-year wedding anniversary with Prince Albert

Princess Charlene’s absence has sparked considerable public and media debate regarding her health, with many suggesting the Prince and Princess were experiencing marital problems. The Prince has since strongly denied the rumours.
