It’s a big week for the children of Prince William and Kate Middleton as the three little royals return back to school after an eventful summer holiday.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took their kids, Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, to a welcome afternoon for new students at the Lambrook School in Berkshire to help them settle in ahead of their official first day back on September 8.

“Ahead of their first day at Lambrook School, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, accompanied by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, today attended a settling in afternoon for new pupils at the school,” Kensington Palace said in a statement.

“The settling in afternoon is an annual event held to welcome new starters and their families to Lambrook and takes place the day before the start of the new school term.”

The cheerful family of five made their way to the school’s entrance together as a handful of media professionals captured the milestone. Despite the media reportedly being invited to the event, no media presence will be allowed during the children’s official first day.

It’s an exciting time for the siblings, as their transfer to Lambrook School marks the first time all three of them will be attending the same school.

Prince George and his younger sister Princess Charlotte had previously been enrolled in Thomas’s Battersea. In a statement released via Kensington Palace, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said they were “hugely grateful” to Thomas’s Battersea and “are pleased to have found a school for all three of their children which shares a similar ethos and values to Thomas’s.”

Following the announcement of their transfer, Lambrook School headmaster Jonathan Perry said the school was “delighted” to welcome the Cambridge children this year.

“We are delighted that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will be joining us this coming September and very much look forward to welcoming the family, as well as all of our new pupils, to our school community,” Perry said.

According to Town and Country, the change of school comes after the family relocated from their central London home to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor after the Duke and Duchess expressed their desire to give their kids a “normal” life.
