In news that has no doubt left royal watchers shocked, Princess Catherine has been hospitalised after undergoing abdominal surgery while King Charles is set to undergo a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate.

The unprecedented announcement, revealing two simultaneous royal health concerns, has sent shockwaves through the heart of the Monarchy, leaving the world collectively holding its breath for updates on the well-being of Princess Catherine and King Charles.

The Princess of Wales was admitted to the private London Clinic on Tuesday, January 16 where she is expected to remain for 10 to 14 days before returning home to recover, Kensington Palace revealed in a statement.

“Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to hospital yesterday for planned abdominal surgery. The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter,” the statement read.

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.

“Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share.

“The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”

While no further details regarding the nature of Kate’ surgery were disclosed, a palace spokesperson reported that the condition was non-cancerous.

In the wake of the surprising news, an understandably stunned public swiftly extended their heartfelt wishes to the Princess of Wales, with many expressing hopes for her rapid recovery.

“‪Omg I truly hope our wonderful Princess of Wales will have a speedy recovery. I wish her all the best. We will wait for you and we all love you, Catherine,” one devoted fan wrote.

“Wishing the Princess of Wales a speedy recovery!”

“Our prayers are for the Princess of Wales to heal quickly and suffer very little pain. 🙏🏻 ❤️ We adore Catherine and look forward to seeing her again and all better,” another shared.

“Get well soon, Princess Catherine!”

Mere hours after news broke of Catherine’s surgery and hospitalisation, Buckingham Palace revealed that King Charles was facing his own health concerns when it was announced that he would be attending hospital next week for a “corrective procedure”.

“In common with thousands of men each year, the king has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate,” the Palace said in a statement.

Palace officials explained that the King’s condition was benign.

Much like the outpouring of support for Catherine, a wave of well-wishes flooded social media, expressing hopes for the King’s swift recovery.

“Wishing him a swift recovery and I hope it inspires more men to get examined,” one shared.

“May his recovery be speedy and smooth.”

“Get well soon,” commented another.

“I’m sorry to hear about King Charles. Wishing him a successful treatment and a swift recovery.”

Both King Charles and Princess Catherine had only recently appeared in public, and seemingly in good health, on Christmas Day when members of the Royal Family gathered to for a church service near the Monarch’s Sandringham estate.
