Legendary entertainer Sir Rod Stewart has a busy night ahead of him as he prepares to take to the stage at the upcoming American Music Awards (AMAs), where he will also receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.

This year’s award will celebrate the enduring impact and legacy of the Maggie May singer, paying tribute to his remarkable career and nearly 60 years of unmatched influence on both the music industry and generations of fans and fellow artists.

It’s also the first time since 2004 that the 80-year-old British singing sensation has performed at the AMAs where he is expected to sing one of his “timeless classics.”

In a joint statement, AMA producers Barry Adelman and Alexi Mazareas acknowledged Stewart’s body of work and showmanship throughout his career which started in the 60s as lead singer with the British band Faces before he transitioned to solo work where he embraced multiple styles from disco and new wave to American Jazz standards in recent years.

“Sir Rod Stewart is a master showman whose charisma and energy have defied time and embody the very spirit of rock and roll,” they wrote.

“We are looking forward to another epic performance on the AMAs stage as well as celebrating his incredible body of work when he receives the Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Stewart shared the news with his fans on social media where he thanked the AMAs for the accolade and wrote about his upcoming televised live performance.

“I’m honored to receive the @amas Lifetime Achievement Award,” he wrote on his Instagram page.

“Plus, I’ve got a very special live performance planned for all of you.”

Fans on social media were overjoyed by the news and quickly filled up the comments section with admiration for the raspy-voiced rocker.

“Yes, wonderful!!! He so deserves it, for all his great music of my lifetime. Congratulations Sir Rod Stewart!!” one wrote.

“You are the one and only. Bravo!!!” another added.

“You are amazing. Keep rockin 💕”

“A million % deserved, 🙌👌 & my absolute FAVOURITE song 🎵’Mandolin Wind.”

Not one to take a rest, Stewart will then appear at England’s Glastonbury festival this June, making him one of the oldest to perform at the legendary music event. This will then kick off his One Last Time global tour.

For Stewart fans, the news comes as no surprise as the two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee shows no signs of slowing down, maintaining his commitment to the stage by regularly shutting down any suggestion of retirement.

Recently he dismissed the notion entirely, telling the Associated Press: “I don’t know. The word retirement is not in my vocabulary at the moment because I’m enjoying myself.”
