Legendary Aussie rocker Jimmy Barnes appears well on the road to recovery following recent open heart surgery.

Barnes sent shockwaves through his fanbase on Wednesday, December 13, when he revealed that he would be undergoing open-heart surgery due to a bacterial infection that had reached his heart.

Since the troubling announcement, Barnes’ wife Jane has been diligently keeping his fanbase up to date with his recovery journey through regular updates on social media.

In an effort to put fans’ worrying minds at ease, Jane took to Instagram once again on Monday, December 18 to share the latest health update, this time with a “graphic warning” alongside the image.

The image showed Barnes reclining on his hospital bed, confidently displaying his chest scar, a mark of resilience that spans the length of his sternum.

“[Graphic warning] Day 5 post cardiac and off with the dressing,” Jane began.

“Jimmy is trying to cheer me up and laughing at his own joke. Things are getting back to normal. Here are some beautiful roses from our garden to say thank you.”

Fans were quick to applaud Barnes’ latest step forward in his recovery while wishing him all the best.

In a previous update, Barnes was shown up and about as he continues to make massive strides in his recovery.

“Day 3 post op we had a few walks up and down the hallway, 250m I’d say. A tough & fragile day but here’s a big brave smile for us. Keep up the good work Jimmy.”
