Prince William and Princess Catherine have rolled up their sleeves and donned their aprons as they faced off against each other in a cake-making challenge.
In the lead-up to St David’s Day celebrations, they joined the hardworking staff at The Welsh Cake Shop, who are preparing for the feast day of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales, on March 1.
With dough already rolled out, the couple got to work as William, sporting a maroon sweater dusted with flour, asked shop owner Theresa Conner, “Is it thick enough?”
Smiling, William added, “Well I don’t know, my stunning baker skills, Mary Berry taught me everything I need to know.”
The couple cooked their Welsh cakes on a hot plate, carefully flipping them after five minutes. Madison Conner, the owner’s daughter, gave their efforts the seal of approval.
“They’re perfect, they’re great – they’re bangin,” she said.
She praised their skills, calling them “very good at baking,” and expressed how special it was to have the royals visit the shop ahead of St David’s Day.
“For us ahead of St David’s Day, it’s a real privilege to meet them and have them visit us,” she said.

Royal fans couldn’t help but celebrate the fun moment between the beloved royal pair.
“Loved this! This was so lovely to see The Prince and Princess back on joint engagements 🏴🌼. They clearly had fun while making those Welsh cakes,” one wrote.
“You are amazing people.”
“The dream team is back together at work,” commented another.
“It’s always amazing see our brilliant Prince and Princess Of Wales together!”
It’s not the first time the royal couple have faced off against each other in the spirit of friendly competition. While touring the Aberavon Leisure and Fitness Centre in Port Talbot in 2023, Catherine went head to head with William during a spin class, the pair tackling a 45-second sprint.
“Sorry for ruining your spin class,” William joked to other attendees as he stepped onto the bike.
William then turned to his wife to point out her choice of footwear: “You have got high heels on.”
“Not sure I am dressed for this,” Kate replied.
Despite her choice of footwear, the Princess took the win and was handed a little gold cup in recognition of her victory.
Catherine clearly left William in a spin with the Prince gasping for air following his efforts on the bike.
“Talk to you in a minute,” he told the class at the time.
Despite his exhaustion, he soon had fellow gymgoers in hysterics with his signature brand of humour.
“I think I tore my pants!” he said.
