Prince William and Princess Catherine are known for their passion for sports and love for the great outdoors so it’s only natural that at least one of their children share their parents’ passions.
However, it seems one of the Wales children in particular is a real stand out in many fields according to their proud father, Prince William who made the comments at an investiture ceremony in Windsor Castle, where he honoured British middle-distance runner Keely Hodgkinson.
Hodgkinson, who won a gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games last year was speaking to The Telegraph newspaper and shared what she spoke about with the Prince of Wales, revealing the conversation included his 10 year old daughter, Princess Charlotte.
“The Prince told me his daughter is doing the 400 metres at the minute and the hurdles and that she did watch me in Paris,” Hodgkinson said via the newspaper.
“He told me that he remembers me winning and that he wished he could be there to see it himself.”
Princess Charlotte is known to be a big athletics fan and has shown interest in many sports such as netball, football and gymnastics.
No doubt, her mother Princess Catherine will help nurture her competitive spirit which is a well known family secret among the British royals.
Royal insider and rugby great James Haskell let this slip while chatting to Good Morning Britain about The Good the Bad and the Rugby podcast which he co-hosts with Mike Tindall, the former English Rugby captain who is married to Prince William’s cousin, Zara.
Haskell shared how the Prince and Princess of Wales appeared on a special episode of the podcast which was recorded at Windsor Castle in September 2023.
During the podcast, Haskell prodded the pair, claiming Tindall compared Catherine to Monica from Friends, and added, “if you guys play table tennis it will go on for hours and hours, and be like, double or quits” Haskell revealed.
While Catherine denied she was “super competitive” and claimed to not know “where this has come from”, the Princess did admit she and William never finished a round of tennis as it became a “mental challenge” between the two of them.
