Meghan Markle has been back in the spotlight recently with a slew of new projects—and her husband Prince Harry could not be prouder.
After his wife launched projects including a Netflix series and a lifestyle brand, Harry told People magazine he fully supports his wife despite mounting criticism of her recent work.
“I am so happy for my wife and fully support absolutely everything she’s done and continues to do,” Harry said.
“I’m incredibly proud,” he added.
Meghan’s lifestyle brand As Ever debuted in March and sold out its first product line in under an hour. That same month, her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan premiered, featuring a brief appearance by Harry in the final episode.
Adding to her growing portfolio, Meghan also launched a new podcast on Lemonada Media, Confessions of a Female Founder, which premiered on April 8.
While the couple has found success in the US, legal battles continue to unfold back in the UK.
Harry is currently embroiled in a court battle over the restoration of his UK security arrangements. During a recent hearing, the couple’s legal team revealed that Harry and Meghan felt “forced” to step down as senior royals due to insufficient protection from the institution.
Harry’s barrister, Shaheed Fatima KC, presented the couple’s position in court, emphasising that their decision to step away from their royal life wasn’t one they took lightly.
In written statements, Fatima explained: “On 8 January 2020, (the duke) and his wife felt forced to step back from the role of full-time official working members of the royal family as they considered they were not being protected by the institution, but they wished to continue their duties in support of the late Queen as privately funded members of the royal family.”
Since stepping away from his royal duties in 2020 with his wife Meghan, Harry has remained estranged from his family across the pond.
Adding to the tensions were revelations made in a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Harry and Meghan candidly discussed their struggles within the royal institution. This was followed by the release of Harry’s candid memoir and a series of interviews in which he continued to criticise The Firm.
The decision marked a major shift in the traditional dynamics of the Monarchy.
