Prince Harry and Prince William facing numerous challenges on the path to reconciliation

It’s well-known that the bond between Prince Harry and Prince William has been significantly strained for quite a while.

Since stepping away from his royal duties in 2020 with Meghan Markle, Harry has remained estranged from his family across the pond, especially from his brother.

Adding to the tensions were revelations made in a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Harry and Meghan candidly discussed their struggles within the royal institution. This was followed by the release of Harry’s candid memoir and a series of interviews in which he continued to criticise The Firm.

Although these factors hinder Harry’s efforts to make peace with the Royal Family, royal author and expert Tom Quinn suggests that there are several deep-seated issues that leave the prospect of reconciliation between Harry and William even more challenging.

“The feud between Harry and William isn’t just down to the fact that their wives don’t get on. It also has a lot to do with their dysfunctional, strife-torn childhoods and Harry’s obsession with being an also-ran,” he told the US Mirror.

According to Quinn, Charles and Diana’s separation and divorce also play a role in the siblings’ division.

“As children, they spent one weekend with their mother Diana going to McDonald’s and wearing baseball caps, and the following weekend with their father shooting pheasants and wearing tweed trousers,” Quinn explained.

“Their parents were split, their lives were split, and being split is all they know. Harry has also always resented the fact that his mother Diana relied almost too much on William for advice and comfort – Harry felt left out even back then.”

Quinn isn’t the only one who recognises the obstacles to reconciliation between Harry and William. Former royal reporter Michael Cole also remains pessimistic, recently stating that there is “too much bad blood” between the two.

“William has done his duty. In great contrast to Prince Harry. Now, I don’t think there’s any chance at all of there being a reconciliation with the brothers now or in the foreseeable future,” Cole told GB News.

“It goes back to Oprah Winfrey interview, then the book Spare and all the things that were said in the Netflix six part series.

“There is too much bad blood. William is not going to forgive that, principally because he, of course, and his wife attacked personally, his wife, Kate.

“Even when the announcement of her cancer was mad their mealy mouthed response to it didn’t show any great concern for her.

“William looks at them and and he would say what most people would say. All of this is completely unnecessary.

“Prince Harry has had a wonderful, privileged life. He owes everything to being a member of the Royal Family. He’s good looking. He’s married to a beautiful wife. He’s got two healthy, beautiful children.”

“He’s got more money than we could shake a stick at. People who are struggling, people who are battling would wonder why he’s so upset.”
