Meghan Markle is shedding light on how she and Prince Harry are approaching parenthood and what they consider most important to pass on to their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

On the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, Meghan explained that she and Harry are raising their children to understand patience, gratitude, and the value of hard work through simple, everyday activities.

“We grow a lot of veggies and part of what I want them to learn is, and gardening is really so great for children, ’cause it teaches them patience, teaches them to value and appreciate their food,” she said.

“So you start from seed and you watch it grow, and they wait. But with that, it’s like, now do you want to sell your harvest? And do you want to share it with our community? And also, what do you want to do with those funds once you have them?

“So really starting to understand as they’re learning counting and numbers and all of those things, that there’s a cost and a price for things. And I think that’s key for children to understand that, especially children who are very lucky to have a home that has privilege.

“You need to know that, just like manners, and taking care of the things around you, there is a value on things.”

She added that for her and her husband, “it’s really important that they understand the value of things.”

While Meghan and Harry share these core parenting values, they take different approaches when it comes to how public their children’s lives should be.

According to The Sun’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson, Prince Harry is much more cautious, influenced by his own experiences with media attention during his childhood.

“My understanding of this or up to a certain stage is that Harry would much rather his children were not seen. He doesn’t want them to be papped,” he explained during an appearance on Hello Magazine’s A Right Royal Podcast,

“He’s got this idea that if he takes them outside of Montecito that there’s a horde of us out there trying to take pictures of his kids – they’re not by the way.”

While Harry may want to shield his children from the spotlight, Meghan’s approach is much different with Wilkinson explaining that “she wants her children to have a more kind of California style lifestyle you know take him down the beach, go out, do stuff.”

“She doesn’t want to hide them away and we’ve seen this haven’t we more and more with the use of of Lilibet and Archie,” he added.
