King Charles has taken to social media to share a touching tribute in honour of Mother’s Day, commemorating the late Queen Elizabeth with a heartfelt message and a nostalgic throwback photo.

The official Instagram account of the Royal Family posted an endearing image capturing a young Charles sweetly kissing his mother’s hand after she presented him with a prize at a polo event.

The post was accompanied by a heartfelt message from the King himself.

“Wishing all Mothers, and those who are missing their Mums today, a peaceful Mothering Sunday,” the King wrote.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away at the age of 96 on Thursday, September 8 2022 at 6.30 pm London time at Balmoral, triggering an outpouring of grief from across the globe.

Buckingham Palace announced her death in a statement after senior royals gathered at Balmoral following concern from the Queen’s doctors regarding her health earlier in the day.

“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” the statement read at the time.
