A small series of intimate black and white photographs were revealed on Wednesday of Catherine Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William Duke of Cambridge, attending the Earthshot Prize Awards in London. The photographs revealed a completely different side to the royal lovebirds, showcasing a more elegant yet soft and romantic appearance of the two.

The couple is normally seen in more professional and posed photographs, but these behind-the-scenes shots were as candid as ever.

The series was uploaded to the Duke and Duchess’ Instagram account in a 3-slide carousel. The first photograph sees the couple stepping out from behind a curtain, smiling and laughing together. The next slide showcases a more sombre Will, as he looks off into the distance behind the stage. But the last photograph is just as wholesome and intimate as the first – as you see Kate place her hand on Will’s back, as she looks at him intently, as they seem to be deep in conversation.

The intimate photographs come after the royal couple attended the Earthshot Prize Awards in London, to continue to show their commitment and passion for the environment. Although intimate, the black and white photographs don’t do the couple’s outfit any justice.

The couple stepped out in some of their most simple yet ravishing outfits yet. Will strolled the red carpet wearing a turtleneck and green velvet suit while his wife stunned crowds with a recycled Alexander McQueen lilac gown that fell gracefully to the floor. Kate was seen wearing this exact gown at the 2011 BAFTA awards, but this time, she changed it up a bit with a sparkly belt and accessorised accordingly.

During their attendance, Will made a heartfelt speech touching on the importance of not giving up hope for the environment, saying: “I want to say something to all the young people watching tonight, for too long, we haven’t done enough to protect the planet for your future.”
