Aussie rock legend Jimmy Barnes has kicked off the new year with gratitude, thanking fans for their unwavering support during a challenging 2024.

The Working Class Man hitmaker left fans stunned last year when he revealed he had been admitted to hospital after a “twinge” became “unbearable”, requiring a medical procedure.

In a recent social media post reflecting on the year gone by, Barnes expressed his deep appreciation for the encouragement he received as he navigated his health struggles.

“I want to thank you all for your support over the last year,” he wrote.

“Not just for me but the goodwill and support you have all offered my family as well. It has been a huge year and all I can say is bring on the next one.

“I’m happy to have survived 2024. We have a lot of great things planned for you and we can’t wait to reveal them. Stay tuned, and a very Happy New Year to you all.”

Fans wasted no time in sending their heartfelt wishes for the new year, once again rallying behind the beloved rock legend.

“Happy new year to you and Jane, and the whole lovely gang. Wishing you all GREAT health, and stacks of time in the rose garden in 2025,” one wrote.

“We’ve got your back Jimmy! Happy new year to you and your family.”

“With best wishes to you both for a very happy, safe and blessed New Year 2025. Thanks for all your sharing and kindness in 2024. May good health and good times continue,” commented another.

“Can’t wait! Happy New Year to your beautiful family. Thank you for your continued optimism and entertaining updates.”

Barnes’ message of thanks comes after the 68-year-old recently updated fans on his recovery, reassuring them that he has no plans to slow down.

Showcasing his remarkable resilience, Barnes took to social media to reassure the public that “everything is on track.”

“I’ve had what they call a PICC line in my arm delivering antibiotics from a portable bottle 24/7 for 6 weeks,” he explained.

“It’s meant that I could leave hospital and continue most of my recovery at home. It’s been restricting and liberating at the same time. This part of my recovery is now over and with the help of Drs, nurses, physiotherapists, family, friends, you guys and my Jane everything is on track.

“Rehearsing with @coldchiselofficial this week has topped things off. I can even get back behind the wheel. Aah! FREEDOM.”
