Duchess Catherine’s gold dress a nod to Princess Diana’s 1985 silver lame stunner

Oct 02, 2021

This week the Duchess of Cambridge stunned as she stepped out in her floor-length, gold sparkly gown for the worldwide premiere of No Time to Die.  The dress, by Jenny Packman had a built-in cape making her look like the Prince of England’s very own Bond girl.  The royal family attended the Bond premiere with glitz not seen throughout the Covid period but it has certainly not stopped people looking back in time for a dress to compare it to.

Royal watchers have in fact been quick to want to compare her stunning ensemble with the silver lame dress worn by Diana, Princess of Wales to the film premiere of Burke & Wills on November 1, 1985 in Melbourne, Australia.  The backless floor-length shiny silver dress has a similar plunging neckline and glamorous vibe we see in Catherine’s choice for this milestone film premiere.

The world has waited for the premiere of No Time to Die for over 12 months, delayed due to the rolling lockdowns seen worldwide.

No Time to Die will launch in Australian cinemas on 10 October 2021.

We are you today to tell us ‘who wore it best’?
