As renowned singer Celine Dion continues to grapple with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), her sister Claudette has provided fans with another update, shedding light on the challenges and realities her younger sister is facing.

Claudette has shared that the My Heart Will Go On hitmaker is struggling to find any medication that works for her and that their other sister, Linda, has moved in to help care for Celine.

“When I call her and she’s busy, I speak to my sister Linda who lives with her and tells me that she’s working hard. She’s listening to the top researchers in the field of this rare disease as much as possible,” Claudette told Le Journal de Montreal.

“I honestly think that she mostly needs to rest. She always goes above and beyond, she always tries to be the best and top of her game. At one point, your heart and your body are trying to tell you something. It’s important to listen to it.”

Although there is currently no cure for SPS there are treatments available to help slow down its progression and Claudette says the family believes that one day she will return on stage.

“We trust her. It’s innate to her, she’s disciplined in every area of her life… We can’t find any medicine that works, but having hope is important,” she said.

Last month, Claudette shared an emotional conversation she had with Celine, where she told her sister “This can’t be possible. Heaven made a mistake.” Celine reportedly replied: “You are going to make me cry.”

Public concerns regarding Dion’s health began back in January 2022 when the My Heart Will Go On singer cancelled the North American leg of her Courage World Tour because of “severe and persistent muscle spasms”.

The singer then shocked fans early in December 2022 after sharing on social media that she had been diagnosed with SPS which was affecting “every aspect” of her daily life, saying that it “sometimes [causes] difficulties when I walk and not [allow] me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”

No further update has been announced by Celine’s team regarding her world tour. It is understood that Celine is still choosing to lay low as she continues on to recover in the comforts of her Las Vegas home with the support of her family.
