When it comes to starring in reality television shows, quiz master Anne Hegerty aka “The Governess” is far from camera shy.

From making her first ever TV appearance in 1988 as a contestant on Mastermind to becoming a fan favourite on The Chase and even competing on I’m a Celebrity…get me out of here! back in 2018, the 64-year-old no doubt has a competitive side.

But despite her competitive nature, Hegerty has promised never to step foot on the Strictly Come Dancing set.

Speaking to Daily Star, the TV personality revealed she couldn’t think of anything worse than appearing on the show, admitting she thought the experience would be “awful” and “miserable”.

“Strictly has been noted before but I can’t dance and it would be like six months of my life. It would be awful and I would be miserable and I would hate it, so no,” she told the publication.

“I would never even get talked into acting like I might be interested in doing it.”

But Strictly isn’t the only show Hegerty no longer wants to take part in, sharing that it’s unlikely we’ll see her appear on I’m A Celebrity again.

Although she survived 19 days in the Australian bush, Hegerty shared that she was ready to quit on day one after she felt like she was “walking into hell”.

Though we might not see Hegerty crossing over into any other popular TV competitions she’s more than happy to have other celebrities compete with her on The Chase.

Although she’s already played against some famous faces, the professional quizzer revealed there’s one celebrity she would love to have on the show – beloved The Voice coach and Welsh singer Sir Tom Jones.

“I’d just be fangirling all over him,” Hegerty admitted, adding that English comedian Stephen Fry would also be a welcomed guest.

“I always say it would be lovely to have Stephen Fry because he’s so smart but I can’t imagine him ever saying yes.

“He knows an enormous amount, I think. How organised his knowledge is and how fast he can get it up to the surface, I don’t know.

“I don’t know what he’s like on speed quiz. He can come and play bingo with us, he’s very welcome.”

Fans of “The Governess” will also be delighted to hear that she won’t be leaving The Chase anytime soon either.

A few months ago, Hegerty had made headlines after rumours started circulating about her potentially being replaced by someone who “looks like they could be on Love Island”.

Whispers of Hegerty’s replacement were sparked after Mark Labbett appeared at the Oxford Student Union and reportedly told its debate society that the show bosses were looking for quizzers who “can play like Anne or Jenny (Ryan) and looks like she can be on Love Island”.

These rumours were soon squashed with Hegerty herself telling Express that she has been keeping busy filming more episodes for the game show.
