When it comes to leaving lasting red carpet impressions, Dame Helen Mirren never misses – and her look for this year’s Cannes Film Festival was no exception.

The renowned actress left fans stunned as she walked the red carpet on the opening day of the 76th annual event on Tuesday, May 16, in head-to-toe blue.

Mirren, 77, looked like the Goddess of the sea after transforming her silver locks into a wispy updo of periwinkle and ocean blue.

Her vibrant blue hair perfectly matched the colour of her custom Del Core gown. The floor-length taffeta gown features a deep V-neck with long sleeves, a corseted bodice and a short train.

Mirren accessorised with sparking diamond jewellery and wore silver Sole Bliss platform shoes. For make-up, she kept things simple with soft pink lipstick that matched the blush on her cheeks. Mirren completed her look by painting her nails a pastel blue.

Fans of the Queen star were absolutely ecstatic by her red carpet attire saying it’s “fantastic to see a real AUTHENTIC woman in all her magnificence and glory #womenover60.

“She certainly knows how to make a statement,” another fan commented.

“She is the embodiment of female strength! LOVE!!!”

“Omg, she looks fabulous. Between Martha Stewart’s SI cover and this gorgeous look, age really is a number!”

“Most striking and handsome woman alive in the entertainment business. Hats off dame Helen.”

This isn’t the first time Mirren has wowed the crowd at the Cannes Film Festival. Last year the Oscar winner stepped out onto the red carpet with an outstanding mane of platinum blonde hair.

However, the first time Mirren appeared on the red carpet with colourful hair was back in 2019, when she rocked a cotton candy pink pixie cut after being nspired by the US TV show America’s Next Top Model.

“I was watching an episode of America’s Next Top Model and there was this little English girl on it. She had bright pink hair and she looked so great. Normally, she had sort of whitey-blonde [hair], like me,” Mirren told People at the time.

“She went pink one week and then the next week she wasn’t pink and the next week she was pink again. So I realized it was something you could come and go with really easily. So I thought, ‘Well, I’ll do pink for the night.'”
