Sir Elton John’s husband David Furnish took to social media to share an old family photo in celebration of Father’s Day in the UK.

The couple is known for their privacy, with photos of their sons Zachary, 11, and Elijah, nine, few and far between and often hiding the children’s faces from view.

Furnish captioned the throwback image: “Happy Father’s Day. Where has the time gone?! Can’t imagine our life without our beautiful and brilliant sons. @eltonjohn Feeling homesick today and missing my family.”

“I have had an incredibly fortunate 75 years. I’ve had my share of adventures, and I’ll tell you about some of the wilder ones another time. But know this: the most rewarding journey in my life has been the one I began 12 years ago with your Papa, when we decided to start a family,” Elton wrote.

“Zachary and Elijah, you two are the greatest gifts I have ever been given. You have filled my heart with love and my life with purpose and meaning in ways I didn’t think were possible. You are my proudest achievements, and I love you both so, so much.”

Fans of the beloved singer will get a deeper look into his life, with his upcoming documentary Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances and the Years That Made His Legend.

The documentary is being made by Furnish and Academy Award-nominated direct, R.J. Culter, and promises to give fans a raw and intimate look at the man who brought us hits such as Your Song and Tiny Dancer. The film will also feature present-day footage leading up to  Elton’s final concert this November at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium.

CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Chapek said Disney “could not be more excited to collaborate with him on this new documentary”.

“There are no superlatives left to describe Elton John and his impact on music and culture — he’s simply unrivalled,” Chapek said.

“Like a good Disney story, Elton’s music has both universal appeal and the ability to connect with audiences on a deeply personal level. He has been part of the Disney family since 1994 when he helped make The Lion King an instant classic.”

No official release date for the documentary has been announced yet.
