Hit song makers Elton John and ABBA’s Benny Andersson have come together to release a collaboration of two of their hit ’70s tracks Bennie and The Jets and Chiquitita.

After a TikTok audio effortlessly blending the tracks went viral, the iconic Swedish pop group’s Benny Andersson and 75-year-old Rocketman singer joined forces to perform a live rendition of the popular audio.

“Heard about this little mashup of Bennie and the Jets with @ABBA and had to get involved,” John captioned the post.

The video begins with Andersson playing the piano intro to Chiquitita before seamlessly cutting to a shot of Elton, seated on his own piano, grinning in a bedazzled tracksuit, playing the iconic first notes of his hit Bennie and The Jets.

The original audio, titled Benny and Chiquitita, was uploaded earlier this year in June and has been used in more than 54,000 videos on the platform.

The audio currently outranks Elton’s most-used official TikTok song, I’m Still Standing with just over 35,000 videos.

The surprise collaboration comes after news that Elton is set to release a new rendition of his hit song Tiny Dancer which will now feature pop icon Britney Spears.

The release of the new duet version of Tiny Dancer also comes as Elton continues his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, his final world tour until he officially retires from live performances.

After 52 years of touring and performing live, Elton scheduled the monumental three-year international farewell tour after announcing he plans to retire and slow down to spend more time with his family.

“It’s time to come off the road so I can fully embrace the next important chapter of my life,” the singer said.

“After the tour finishes, I’m very much looking forward to closing off that chapter of my life by saying farewell to life on the road. I need to dedicate more time to raising my children.”

Elton’s glittering tour is scheduled to head Australia’s way next January for four encore shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Newcastle- giving fans one last chance to kick up their heels and sing along to some of Elton’s greatest hits one last time.

More information on the Australia and New Zealand upcoming tour can be found on Elton’s official tour website.
