Renowned musician Elton John has sparked concerns from fans during his arrival at Leipzig Airport in Germany, on Sunday, May 29, after the 75-year-old was seen in a wheelchair.

The frail Tiny Dancer singer was snapped wearing his signature Gucci tracksuit and a black facemask as a member of his team pushed him into the airport’s terminal.

Elton’s airport appearance comes ahead of his scheduled performance for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert, where he is due to perform alongside music trailblazers Queen and Diana Ross, on Saturday, June 4.

This isn’t the first time the musician has used a wheelchair, having revealed back in 2019 that he needed one after spraining his ankle.

However, the star had undergone hip surgery earlier this year due to a nasty fall in September 2021.

Despite facing these ailments, Elton shows no signs of slowing down, with plans to continue his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Frace.

And though the Rocketman hitmaker has a busy month ahead, he had previously admitted that after nearly 60 years of touring, he plans to slow down to spend more time with his family.

“I’ve been touring since I was 17 in the back of a van. I’ve had the most incredible life, I’ve been so lucky, and I have loved every minute of it. But I’ve had enough of that applause, and I really want…I want to do something else with the rest of my life,” he said.

The devoted father and singing sensation even took to social media to share a rare and heartwarming tribute to his children.

Shared on the Elton John AIDS Foundation Instagram, the caption read: “Last month, to mark his 75th birthday, @EltonJohn shared a heart-warming letter to his sons in @TIME about the important lessons he has learned throughout his life.”

The throwback photo shows Elton and his husband, David Furnish, each holding the hands of one of their son, Zachary, now aged 11, and Elijah, now aged 9, wearing matching Watford football kits.

In the incredibly personal letter, the 75-year-old reflected on his life as both a performer and parent, calling his sons “the two most precious parts of my life”.

And it seems that Elton will be spending more quality time with family, sooner rather than later, as the singer will play his final show in London at the BST Hyde Park festival on June 24.
