Dolly Parton has revealed the adorable backstory behind her favourite fast food chain in an interview with Insider.

The 9 to 5 singer admitted her favourite fast food was none other than McDonald’s, revealing she and her long-time husband Carl Dean had shared a number of dates at the venue during the early stages of their relationship.

In fact, Parton revealed her and Dean’s very first date took place at McDonald’s, admitting her and her husband of 56 years are big fans of drive through restaurants.

“Oh, I love to get a good burger on the highway and french fries like everybody else,” Dolly said.

“And we got hot doughnuts now and then. We love to just get out in that little camper of ours and drive through restaurants.”

Another fan favourite of Dolly’s is Taco Bell, revealing her favourite menu item is the Taco Supreme because it keeps its shape when she’s “riding around” in the camper.

“I like soft-shell tacos. I like the others, but they fall apart so bad, especially if you’re riding around,” she said.

Parton and Dean first met in 1976 when, according to Insider, he “hollered at her” as he was “driving by in his pick up truck”.

“She [Dolly] declined his request for a date but invited him over while she was babysitting her nephew the following day,” wrote Insider.

In a touching tribute to the couple’s 50th anniversary, Dean admitted to Entertainment Tonight that he knew Dolly was the one for him from the moment he saw her.

“My first thought was, ‘I’m gonna marry that girl,” Dean said in a statement.

“My second thought was, ‘Lord she’s good lookin’. And that was the day my life began. I wouldn’t trade the last 50 years for nothing on this earth.”
