It’s one of the most highly-anticipated awards ceremony of the year and the 2021 Emmy Awards did not disappoint, as a host of television and movie stars pulled out all the fashion stops.

Everyone from Catherine Zeta-Jones to Rita Wilson showed off statement ensembles as they posed for photos outside the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday evening.

Catherine, 51, was the picture of elegance as she hit the red carpet in a burgundy-coloured strapless gown alongside her Emmy-nominated husband Michael Douglas, 76, who looked dapper in a classic black suit, white dress shirt and purple tie. The actor is nominated for his work in Netflix’s The Kominsky Method.

Catherine looked incredible in the full-length gown, which featured a daring thigh split. She coordinated the outfit with matching heels, a statement diamond necklace from Lorraine Schwartz and dangling earrings.

Elsewhere, Rita, 64, rocked a fabulous glittery pantsuit by Tom Ford which she matched with a sequinned top. She finished off the outfit with black, strappy heels and accessorised with an assortment of silver necklaces. Rita walked the red carpet solo as her husband Tom Hanks did not attend.

American actress Gillian Anderson, who took home an Emmy for her role as Margaret Thatcher in the fourth season of The Crown, was also in attendance, stepping out in a trendy off-white ensemble which was made up of a crop top and a full-length skirt — a stark contrast to the black halter-neck dress she wore to the Met Gala last week.

The Crown actually took home quite a few wins, with Tobias Menzies winning in the Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category for his role as Prince Philip in the popular series. Olivia Coleman also won in the Lead Actress in a Drama Series category for her role as Queen Elizabeth II.

However, one of the standouts from the night had to be Catherine O’Hara’s vibrant orange-red ensemble. The ensemble in question featured a pair of straight-through pants and a fabulous flowy off-the-shoulder blouse, which had its own train — talk about amazing. She wore her hair out in soft waves and accessorised with a single, gold bangle and added a second pop of colour with aqua-blue nail polish.
