Wonderful news! Bert and Patti Newton set to become grandparents for sixth time

Bert and Patti Newton are set to become grandparents once again, as the showbiz couple revealed that their daughter Lauren, 40, is pregnant with her sixth child.

Patti, 75, shared the happy news on Instagram on Saturday morning as she told her followers that it was “wonderful” to have something to look forward to amid the ongoing coronavirus emergency.

“Another beautiful baby to love,” Patti wrote. “So lucky this baby is having No 6. In these sad and difficult times, wonderful to have such joy to look forward to. “The best parents, and the most fabulous children, we miss you so much our love Nana and Poppy.”

Lauren and husband Matt Welsh, a former Olympic swimmer, are already parents to five children; Sam, 11, Eva, nine, Lola, six, Monty, two, and 15-month-old daughter Perla.

Patti’s followers were quick to congratulate the couple on the happy news, with one commenting: “Oh my goodness, Patti – this is such a fabulous photo! No 6! Wow! Such lovely news. We miss our six grandchildren so much – thank goodness for FaceTime, etc.”

Another commented: “Wow thats great news, 6 kids wow busy times ahead.” While another wrote: “How wonderful. Much love and congratulations to you all.”

Patti’s post follows an initial announcement made by Lauren yesterday, as the expectant mum shared an image of her youngest daughter Perla Dolly holding an ultrasound scan. She captioned the heartwarming photograph: “Perla is thrilled she is going to be a big sister!!! #babynumber6”

Bert and Patti, who have been married for almost five decades, make no secret of the fact they dote on their grandchildren and regularly share sweet photographs of the entire family on social media.

The happy news comes just 15-months after the birth of Lauren and Matt’s youngest child, Perla, who was born in January 2019. Patti has widely documented her youngest granddaughter’s first year on Instagram, sharing family photographs of the tot with Bert, 81, as well as several sweet photographs from her christening day last year.
