After selling out stadiums, performing for presidents and a pope, acclaimed tenor Andrea Bocelli will release a new album to mark 30 years in the music industry.
Duets will feature both previously released and brand-new collaborations of his best-known work and will support the release of an upcoming concert film, Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration.
The inspirational performer told the Associated Press (AP) that he has loved the sound of singing since childhood and loved sharing the stage with some of the best voices in the business.
“So, this album, there are the best duets that I did in my life,” he told AP.
“From the first, The Prayer with Celine Dion, until the last, like Perfect with Ed Sheeran and many, many others.
“And the album has been remastered and remixed. So, I hope the sound can be better.”
Although the new album and documentary will celebrate his career, Bocelli is not looking back and is very much focused on the future.
“I like to sing to the future. Honestly, I don’t like to think with nostalgia to the past,” he said.
“My first time on stage, for me it is like yesterday. The time is gone so quickly, so fast.
“Reality exceeded my wildest dreams.”
Duets is the fourth compilation album released by Bocelli, coming after the release of his Christmas album two years ago.
Titled A Family Christmas, the 63-year-old father of three was joined by his two youngest children Matteo, 24, and Virginia, 10, in recording the Christmas album that was filled with festive favourites, new songs, solo tracks and trio performances.
Proud father Andrea said at the time that he considered it a “privilege” to be able to work with his children.
“There’s nothing more beautiful than making music with your kids,” he said.
“We are offering our small, intimate, and heartfelt gift to anyone who wishes to enjoy the soundtrack of Christmas in the Bocelli home.”
