When people think of luxury brands, chances are gorgeous twenty-somethings parading around in glamorous designer outfits comes to mind. While that might be the case for some campaigns, Hollywood legend Faye Dunaway is showing them how it’s done over 70 as one of the stars of a new Gucci campaign.
The 77-year-old, who rose to fame in the 1960s for her starring roles in The Happening and Arthur Penn’s Bonnie and Clyde, is the perfect fit for the latest Gucci advertisement.
In what is becoming a new trend for designer brands, Faye is proving that age is no barrier when it comes to fashion and selling style to the masses. Starring in a short film that’s reminiscent of the vintage Hollywood she once ruled, the Mommie Dearest actress stars alongside French star Soko as a mother and daughter duo with a passion for fashion.
“Debuting the new campaign for Gucci Sylvie featuring the archive-inspired bag designed by Alessandro Michele,” Gucci said of the new clip. “Faye Dunaway plays a Beverley Hills mother to actress Soko in a new film by Petra Collins.”
Directed by Collins, the clip gives viewers an inside look into Faye and Soko’s life. Faye oozes confidence as she signs autographs for fans while being driven away Los Angeles in a fancy car, before sporting a trendy pair of glasses and indulging in some shoe shopping at a Gucci store. Of course, she’s dressed head to toe in beautiful fashion as well. The blonde bombshell wears a fashionable hat on her head, matched perfectly with her long floral dress. The look is topped off with a gorgeous handbag and a stunning pair of heels.
As the girls’ adventure continues, Faye travels through a trendy Hollywood suburb she’s probably called home, before arriving at a mansion in yet another exquisite outfit. This time, she’s ditched the hat and opts for a stunning pink skirt and blouse combo. It’s in this scene she presents her daughter with her very own Sylvie Gucci handbag – the whole purpose of the campaign.
The pair, in more trendy outfits, then sip on lemonade while relaxing by a pool, before indulging in a match of tennis.
