Cate Blanchett recycles gown, Julianne Moore is ravishing in red at Cannes

The ever-stylish Cate Blanchett and Julianne Moore dressed to impress as they attended the 71st annual Cannes Film Festival in France on Tuesday. Julianne, 57, donned an all-red outfit, while Cate, 57, recycled a lace couture gown for the occasion.

Showcasing her sensational figure, mother-of-two Julianne was perfectly glamorous in a fiery-red caped-gown that complemented her porcelain complexion.

Adding a touch of drama, Julianne’s Givenchy gown featured a feather-lined interior that flared out behind her as she walked the carpet. The actress swept her auburn locks into a high bun and opted for classic liner and red lips for the event.

She completed the ensemble with matching red heels and simple accessories: a dangling pair of diamond earrings and a diamond ring.

Sustainability has become a hot topic in fashion lately, and Cate is putting it front-and-center on the red carpet this week. The Aussie actress was the picture of elegance as she stepped out in a backless lace couture gown.

And those who know their red carpet fashion history well will recognise the Armani Privé Couture gown, which Cate first wore at the 2014 Golden Globes. The actress pledged to take part in the Green Carpet Challenge (GCC), aiming to highlight sustainable fashion on the red carpet.

The figure-hugging lace dress, which was embellished with gems at the hem of the frock, billowed out from her waist — complementing her slender waist.

Cate completed the look by pinning her hair back and adding colourful dangling earrings — that made a statement without drawing away too much attention from the gown.

Also putting on a show at the Cannes Festival was Penélope Cruz, who was pictured in a 1970s-inspired gown. The star glowed in an icy-blue baby-doll tulle gown that featured an embellished bodice.

Penélope completed the ensemble with silver heels and matching accessories, including a silver clutch. She wore her hair down for the occasion and kept her makeup to a minimum.
