With the cold weather upon us, you’ve probably found your reaching for a treat after dinner to satisfy those sugar cravings more often than usual. There’s something about chocolate that really puts us in a good mood after a busy day and helps us to relax before bed. And there’s certainly nothing wrong with treating ourselves every now and then!

So, if you’re on the hunt for another sneaky treat to whip after dinner, we’ve got just the thing. An Aussie home cook recently took to social media to share her recipe for a Mars Bar and Malteser fudge – and it looks absolutely mouth-watering. Plus, it’s super simple to make and can actually be cooked in the slow cooker.

The recipe was posted on Facebook group Slow Cooker Recipe & Tips and it’s received tonnes of great reviews from fellow cooks.

All you’ll need for this delicious treat is milk chocolate, condensed milk, butter, vanilla essence, Mars Bars and Maltesers. To cook it, simply place all the ingredients, except the Mars Bar and Maltesers, in the slow cooker and cook on high for one hour with the lid off, making sure to stir every 15 minutes so it melts evenly. Then, pour into a prepared slice tin and wait 10 minutes before placing the Mars Bar and Maltesers on top. Place in the fridge and wait for it to set.

It may not be extravagant dessert, but it’s definitely gained the attention of fellow home-cooks across the country who have a bit of a sweet-tooth.

“Might make this on Thursday,” one person commented. While another tagged their friend in the post and said: “You should give this a crack and I’ll come around.” And a third added: “Yummo!”

Meanwhile, if you’re after a more indulgent dessert treat, perhaps an apple and cinnamon pudding will take your fancy? This delicious recipe was shared to Facebook group  Crockpot/Slow Cooker Recipes & Tips recently and if the photos are anything to go by, it could be the new family favourite.

All you’ll need is self-raising flour, butter, caster sugar, eggs, a splash of milk, cinnamon, and canned apple filling which can be purchased from any major supermarket. The home baker simply combined all of the main ingredients together, lined the bottom of a ramekin with the apple filling and topped with the premixed mixture, before placing it in the slow cooker and cooking on high for two and a half hours.

Once cooked, she carefully removed the ramekin from the slow cooker and placed it upside down on a plate, carefully removing the mould to reveal the deliciousness inside. In a video shared to Facebook, the apple filling could be seen dripping down the edges of the warm cake, making for the perfect winter treat.
