Digging into a sweet and warm dessert after dinner is hard to avoid during the winter months as temperatures continue to dip and the blankets are pulled out of the cupboard. So, it’s no surprise that social media has been flooded with delicious recipes for sweet treats of late, with one in particular gaining a lot of attention from Aussies in recent weeks.

The apple and cinnamon pudding is both tasty and easy to make, which is probably why it’s been cooked in the masses in Australian households these last couple of weeks. The recipe was shared to Facebook group Crockpot/Slow Cooker Recipes & Tips recently and if the photos are anything to go by, it could be the new family favourite.

All you’ll need is self-raising flour, butter, caster sugar, eggs, a splash of milk, cinnamon, and canned apple filling which can be purchased from any major supermarket. The home baker simply combined all of the main ingredients together, lined the bottom of a ramekin with the apple filling and topped with the premixed mixture, before placing it in the slow cooker and cooking on high for two and a half hours.

Once cooked, she carefully removed the ramekin from the slow cooker and placed it upside down on a plate, carefully removing the mould to reveal the deliciousness inside. In a video shared to Facebook, the apple filling could be seen dripping down the edges of the warm cake, making for the perfect winter treat.

This latest sweet treat is just one of many to be shared on social media over recent weeks, with many people turning to cooking to keep themselves entertained while in self-isolation. But, it hasn’t all been desserts, so if you’re not a sweet-tooth, there’s still plenty of easy recipes to try – including Jamie Oliver’s “ultimate cheese toastie”.

The celebrity chef shared his own recipe on social media last week. Taking to Facebook on Thursday, the ‘Naked Chef’ revealed he was inspired to reshare his recipe after watching an episode of MasterChef Australia. He wrote: “Those were some epic toasties on MasterChef Australia!! For those of you that now want to know how to make the best cheese toasties WITH A Crown – here’s Jamie’s MEGA cheese toastie.”

And if you want to give the dish a go yourself at home, all you’ll need is two types of cheese, bread, butter and some basic pantry staples, such as tomato sauce. Jamie’s followers couldn’t get enough of the oozing cheese toastie, with one writing: “Jamie, I love a good toastie with cheese and butter.” Another commented: “Heart attack in a sandwich! Where’s my second helping?” While another said: “The Masterchef Aus creations were good but not as awesome as your toastie Jamie.”
