Just a matter of days after attending Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, the duchess is already back to her royal duties.

Camilla, 70, stepped out in a powder-blue suit to meet volunteers working with children in Gloucester on Thursday.

The duchess wore her hair out in soft waves and opted for minimum makeup for the occasion. She completed the ensemble with tan-coloured court shoes and accessorised with simple jewellery: two stunning dragonfly broaches and a pair of pearl earrings.

Camilla was in Gloucester visiting St James’ Church of England Junior school where she was spotted reading Harry Potter books to students.

The duchess even got the chance to view a series of portraits of herself drawn by students — which saw her donning a crown in front of a giant British flag.

A keen advocate for the importance of reading and writing, Camilla is patron of several organisations that promote and support literacy, including the National Literacy Trust, Book Trust, First Story, the Wicked Young Writer Awards and Beanstalk.

Camilla looked in excellent spirits as she chatted to a group of students taking part in a reading session during her visit.

Earlier this week, the duchess admitted the whole family were wondering “whatever would happen next” in the days leading up to Harry and Meghan’s wedding.

Former US actress Meghan’s father dramatically dropped out of the wedding just days before, as he was forced to undergo heart surgery. That followed a series of bombshell interviews and notes from her siblings, slamming the pair’s relationship and even then begging for an invite.

Speaking to reporters and production staff on a visit to 5 News in London on Wednesday, Camilla revealed her relief that everything went “right”.

According to the Mail Online, she told staff: “It was such a lovely day. Just everything went right. We all wondered whatever would happen next and then everything went right. The only thing is that we are all losing our voices now.”

Describing the whole day as “perfect” and the weather as “beautiful”, she reportedly added: “It’s nice to have something that is uplifting rather than depressing,” before joking: “The only thing is that we are all losing our voices now!”
