Celine Dion’s surprising reason for hiring storage space

Celine Dion at the Los Angeles premiere of 'Beauty And The Beast' last month.

Move over Imelda Marcos, there is a new shoe Queen in town.

While is not uncommon for anyone to rent storage space for their excess items, Celine Dion has announced she has a warehouse to hold her shoes. 10,000 of them.

While attending the outrageous fashion event Met Gala, Dion told Women’s Wear Daily she kept everything. “I cannot give anything away because every piece that I buy has brought me to where I am tonight, They’re part of every step that I take and I have an attachment to it,” she said. “You can call it crazy. I keep everything, but I just keep buying a bigger [warehouse] space. I have 10,000 pairs of shoes.”

A bit of a shoe buying habit won’t break the bank for this star, however. Forbes has estimated she is worth close to US $380 million.

The 49-year-old attracted attention at her first Met Gala event wearing a Versace outfit with a thigh-high split and an even higher hairdo.

It was also announced yesterday Dion will return to the Billboard Music Awards stage again this year. Last year she fought back tears when she presented her son with the Icon Award and paid tribute to her late husband Rene Angelil, performing his favourite song The Show Must Go On, by Queen.

Other performers announced to join Dion at the awards are Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons and Bruno Mars.
