Celine Dion has regularly been quoted as saying her late husband Rene Angelil is with her in spirit.
Since Rene passed away in January last year, Celine has thrown herself into her career with a new album, sold out concerts and numerous public appearances.
Now, she’s appeared on The Voice in the US as a mentor – and she’s used the opportunity to pass on a beautiful gift her husband gave to her – some very wise career advice.
Rene was Celine’s manager for more than 30 years, and was one of the reason’s her career blossomed the way it did.
Celine told The Voice contestants her husband “was always with her”, and she gave them some of the career advice he had given her.
“He said, ‘You cannot be good all the time. You have to be good when it’s time.’” she said.
While it’s only something small, Rene’s advice is clearly something Celine held in high regard and was very precious to her.
In an interview at the Beauty and the Beast premiere earlier this month, Celine opened up about how difficult it was making career decisions on her own.
“Now I’m making decisions on my own. It’s a little bit harder,” she told Entertainment Tonight about making the decision to sing for the film.
“I couldn’t say yes right away, because I felt like I was kind of cheating in a way.”
