Ronnie Wood has been told to “enjoy life” after being given the all clear following his lung cancer scare.

The Rolling Stones rocker, 70, was diagnosed with lung cancer last year, and kept it secret for around three months as he focused on the health battle in private.

Now he has confirmed he has beaten it, and managed to avoid having any chemotherapy – amid fears he would lose his hair.

“I had three months of check-ups and it was all clear and they said go and enjoy life,” he told Metro in a recent interview.

Wood previously revealed doctors had found the cancer on his lung early enough to treat it, before it had chance to spread further. He even admitted at the time that if it had spread any further, he would have chosen not to have chemo.

“I don’t want to lose my hair,” he added to the publication. “If your body is riddled with cancer, it’s a losing cause. Luckily, all mine was contained within the left lung and I was fortunate enough to get shot of it, bang.”

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday‘s Event Magazine previously, Wood admitted there was a week where he thought his time may have been up while he underwent a barrage of tests to see if the cancer had spread, and he prepared to say goodbye to his young family, including wife, Sally, and their one-year-old twin daughters.

“I made up my mind that if it had spread, I wasn’t going to go through chemo, I wasn’t going to use that bayonet in my body,” he explained at the time. “It’s more I wasn’t going to lose my hair. This hair wasn’t going anywhere.”

He underwent surgery to remove the “supernova” in his left lung. Despite the scare, Wood admitted that he considered himself lucky given he spent 50 years chain-smoking and generally leading an unhealthy lifestyle. In fact, he only gave up smoking a week before his baby twins were born!

Wood recently updated his fans with a fun video from the Tate Museum in London on his Instagram page, and looked happy and healthy as he smiled and joked into the camera.

He is determined to keep busy, and also confirmed The Rolling Stones will be bringing the ‘No Filter’ tour to the UK and Ireland this summer, along with some shows in Europe.

What do you think of Ronnie’s decision not to have chemo if his cancer had spread?
