Ben McCormack hospitalised following arrest

Ben McCormack is now in hospital.

A Current Affair journalist Ben McCormack has been admitted to hospital.

McCormack’s lawyer Sam Macedone said he spoke to the A Current Affair reporter and would be working to get his bail conditions varied so the TV star is not required to report to Redfern police station.

“I don’t know what he is being assessed for but I understand he will be there for while,” Macedone told The Daily Telegraph.

“I need to vary some bail reporting conditions because of his impending stay in hospital — but I don’t know what exactly it is about,” he said.

Macedone told Starts at 60 that there was nothing further he could add to his comments to the newspaper.

McCormack was charged with sending child pornography material after being arrested last Thursday by detectives from the Sex Crimes Squad.

Police raided his office at Channel Nine’s Sydney offices earlier that morning, searching the ACA office at Willoughby before seizing his computer on site.

In a statement sent out soon after his arrest, NSW Police alleged the Channel 9 veteran engaged in sexually explicit conversations about children with an adult male and discussed child pornography, and there has subsequently been details published by media outlets citing police sources on the alleged crimes. But his lawyer told The Daily Telegraph that all the facts were not yet known.

“What is being alleged isn’t complete because as I understand it the police are still investigating the matters,” Macedone said. “I have no idea what the final allegations will be.”
