The news about child pornography charges against A Current Affair journalist Ben McCormack continues to make waves around Australia.

And for the veteran reporter, the fallout continues.

As you may have heard, he has been released on bail under strict conditions.

Among those conditions are a ban on McCormack entering areas the children frequent such as parks and beaches.

He’s also been prohibited from communicating with anyone under the age of 16.

And now it’s been revealed the charges have cost him one of his biggest passions – working with the local surf life saving club.

The Daily Mail reports that McCormack has been suspended as a member of the North Bondi Surf Life Savers club while he awaits trial.

Donna Wishart from Surf Life Saving NSW said McCormack would have his membership terminated if he was convicted.

“The club has made all of its members aware. If any members are concerned or need support they can come forward,” she said.

Meanwhile, his lawyer told The Daily Mail McCormack won’t be going anywhere near the beach due to his strict bail conditions.

“I daresay his lifesaving duties, nippers training… would be suspended or on hold,” Sam Macedone told the Daily Mail.

McCormack is due to appear in court on May 1.

What do you think about this case? Should McCormack have had his membership suspended?
