The Countess of Wessex looked sensational yesterday, as she carried out an official royal engagement at a recently reopened English pub, as lockdown restrictions begin to ease across the UK.

Sophie, who is married to Her Majesty the Queen’s youngest son Prince Edward, stepped out on her own on Wednesday as she caught up with fellow members of the Bagshot Women’s Institute at The Half Moon Pub in Surrey.

The 55-year-old – who shares children Lady Louise Windsor, 16, and James, Viscount Severn, 12, with Edward – looked effortlessly chic for the solo outing, pairing an A-line blush pink skirt with a simple plum-coloured knit jumper. The countess finished the summer look with a pair of tan wedge-heeled shoes and wore her long blonde locks down over her shoulders.

“This afternoon, The Countess of Wessex joined fellow members of the Bagshot @WomensInstitute for a catch-up at @thehalfmoon.windlesham, Surrey, which re-opened at the weekend,” a statement on the Royal Family’s Instagram page read.

“During her visit, The Countess met the pub’s owners, the Sturt family, as well as kitchen and bar staff. She heard how the business has been affected by COVID-19 and lockdown, and what measures they have had to take in order to welcome patrons again.”

The Half Moon also shared a video of their “very special visitor” on their Instagram page, with the clip showing Sophie arriving in a chauffeur driven car, before greeting members of staff.

Many people commented on the video and complimented Sophie, who is regularly praised by royal-watchers as one of the most down to earth and hard-working members of the firm.

One user wrote: “Sophie is an absolute credit to the British Royal Family.” Another fan said: “She is so pretty and she was so humble today.”

While another commented: “Beautiful and a tireless worker. So much respect.”
