Royal couple mark fifth anniversary with never-before-seen wedding snaps

Princess Sofia and her doting husband Prince Carl Philip have marked their five-year wedding anniversary by releasing a series of previously unseen photos from their beautiful wedding day.

The Swedish royals tied the knot in 2015 in a lavish ceremony in the royal chapel Slottskyrkan in the country’s capital of Stockholm. They have since welcomed two beautiful children to the family – Prince Alexander, 4, and two-year-old Prince Gabriel.

Now, five years on from their big day, the couple have shared 10 never-before-snaps from the special day with their fans on social media. Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Sofia and Carl Philip posted a selection of photos from the momentous occasion and shared a touching message with fans.

“Sometimes every person comes to a decisive choice; a choice that determines one’s future and is about who one is and above all, who one wants to be,” it read. “And often it takes courage. Courage not to choose the easy path just because it is easy, without courage to stay on the hard road because it’s right. Today we celebrate a five year wedding anniversary.”

The photos captured special moments from throughout their wedding day, including when the bride and groom were getting ready, Sofia’s arrival at the chapel ready to walk down the aisle and marry her prince, and when the couple left as husband and wife, ready to embark on married life together.

Meanwhile, other images showed the beautiful decor at the venue, the tasty looking treats served during the reception and the breathtaking church where the two exchanged vows. The love between the two is evident in the photos, with the couple smiling happily at one another with absolute admiration.

Sofia looked absolutely stunning on her wedding day in a white, flowing wedding gown, with lace detailing and a tiara upon her head. She wore her hair in an elegant up-do and accessorised with some dangling earrings. It was simple, yet gorgeous – the perfect fit for a princess. Meanwhile, Carl Philip looked dapper in a navy suit, with yellow stripes down the side of the pants and a selection of medals pinned to his chest.

Fans were delighted with the new photos, with one writing: “Happy 5th wedding anniversary! The most beautiful photos, thank you for sharing these with us.
