Princess Mary shares sweet new photos to mark royal twins’ birthday

Princess Mary and her husband Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark have shared three sweet new photographs of their twin children online to mark the occasion of their eight birthday.

Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent turned eight on Tuesday and the royal couple released a series of previously unseen snaps on social media to mark the special occasion.

“Today DKH Prince Prince and Princess Josephine are eight years old, and on the occasion of the birthday, the Crown Prince Couple has the pleasure of sharing a number of new pictures of your Royal Highnesses H H HRH Crown Princess.” [sic]

The young Danish royals bear a striking resemblance to their parents in the photographs, and fans of the family commented at the similarities between the young princess and her Australian-born mother.

One wrote: “Josephine is a blonde version of Princess Mary.”

Three photographs were released in total of the siblings, with the pair first posing for a sweet shot together, then for their own individual portraits.

Prince Vincent, who looks just like his father, can be seen staring down the lens in his solo shot with a cheeky grin spreading across his face. While his sister is looking away from the camera, as she sweetly smiles and looks down to something out of shot which she appears to be holding her right hand.

The young prince and princess, who have two older siblings, were also flooded with comments from well-wishers who sent their best on their birthday.

“Warm congratulations to Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine. Hope you have a nice day,” one said. Another wrote: “Beautiful, just beautiful. Great congratulations on the eight years.”

Another said: “Huge Big congratulations to both our lovely Vincent and Josephine, but also to the Crown Princess for the beautiful photos, and the entire royal house with the anniversary day.”

The twins’ parents, who got married in 2004, have been photographed out on a number of occasions recently as the Crown Prince couple attended a series of events to mark the New Year in Denmark.

Elegant as ever, Hobart-born Princess Mary stepped out in a stunning gown for the annual New Year’s Banquet in Amalienborg Palace, Copenhagen on New Year’s Day.

Hosted by Queen Margrethe, the New Year’s Banquet is a centuries-old tradition held for members of the Danish parliament, top officials and court management.

And the Aussie-born royal stole the show in a stunning floor-length patterned gown, matched with a silver tiara and diamond earrings, while Prince Frederick wore a traditional military uniform.
