Catherine swapped her towering stilettos for a pair of comfortable sandshoes on Wednesday as she took part in a sports-themed engagement at London Stadium.

The Duchess of Cambridge showed off her athletic prowess yesterday as she took part in track and field activities, which include a sprint race against British Olympic champion Jessica Ennis-Hill, before she tried her hand at some Taekwondo moves, as part of an engagement to support charity SportsAid.

SportsAid, which Catherine has been Patron of since 2013, helps young British sportsmen and women on their journey to become the next Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth and World Champions by helping financially towards training and competition costs.

The mother-of-three dressed down for the occasion, opting for a smart pair of teal green culottes from high-street retailer Zara, which fell to her ankles. The duchess paired the pants with a green ribbed tight-fitting jumper with three-quarter length sleeves.

And Catherine, 38, completed the sporty look with a pair of white sandshoes which featured green stripes down each side, which matched perfectly with her outfit.

A statement posted on the official Kensington Royal Instagram account read: “Today The Duchess of Cambridge joined a special @TeamSportsAid event dedicated to celebrating the role that parents and guardians play in their child’s sporting success.

“Today The Duchess joined young athletes taking part in a series of track and field activities, before meeting parents and guardians of SportsAid athletes, past and present, to hear about their experiences, the challenges that they face, and about the impact of the support they receive from the charity.”

Catherine’s solo outing comes one day after she and husband Prince William stepped out together in Covent Garden to attend a special screening of play ‘Dear Evan Hansen’. The Tony Award-winning musical, which debuted on Broadway in 2015, is about a young boy, named Evan Hansen, who suffers from severe social anxiety and struggles to connect with people in a hyperconnected world.

The duchess, 38, looked sensational for the performance, which was put on in aid of The Royal Foundation on Tuesday evening, in a black boucle dress by Eponine which featured large silver buttons and a flattering mid-length hemline.

Catherine completed the sophisticated look with a pair of silver glittering heels by Jimmy Choo, which she has worn on several previous occasions, along with a matching clutch bag.

Meanwhile Prince William cut a dapper figure in a navy blue suit, with a matching tie and a simple pair of black leather shoes.
