Catherine gives an update on Prince Louis as she steps out in tartan

The Duchess of Cambridge was glowing as she stepped out in Scotland this week, wrapping up against the bitter winter temperatures in a stunning tartan coat.

The mother-of-three, who welcomed her youngest child, Prince Louis, in April last year, also delighted royal fans as she treated them to an update on the little prince’s development during her latest royal engagement.

Catherine stepped out with husband Prince William on Tuesday in the Scottish city of Dundee, just miles from where the couple met whilst studying at the University of St Andrews in nearby Fife.

And, according to The Daily Mirror, divulged that Prince Louis is “already a fast crawler”, meaning it might not be long before we see the young royal walking with his family.

The visit was the first official joint engagement of the year for Catherine and William, who are known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn when in Scotland, as they officially opened a brand new branch of the V&A Museum.

Catherine looked stunning as she stepped out wearing a tartan coat by British fashion house Alexander McQueen, who were also responsible for the duchess’ famous wedding dress, in dark shades of navy and green.

Wearing her brunette locks hanging loose and curled, in what has become her signature style, Catherine completed her sophisticated look with a pair of opaque black tights, black heeled court shoes and a green scarf.

The duchess also gave a speech as she opened the new V&A Museum in Dundee, almost one year after she was made Patron of The V&A in London by Her Majesty the Queen.

“William and I are so pleased to be back here in Dundee to celebrate the opening of this wonderful museum today,” she said. “Walking around this world-class space, it’s easy to see how Scotland’s first dedicated design museum is already inspiring the next generation, by providing a new learning space for discovery.

“I have been captivated by the breath-taking architecture, and the sheer range of design on display. But most of all I’ve been moved by the passion of the people who work here, and the dedication of all those who have helped make this important project to succeed.”

Just last week Catherine opened up on the struggles of motherhood as she visited London-based charity Family Action, where she launched their new FamilyLine – a phone, text and email service to offer support to parents and carers quickly and efficiently.

While Catherine had royal staff on standby to help her with all three of her children, she reportedly told the women that every mother sometimes feels isolated and in need of help.

“It’s so hard. You get a lot of support with the baby as a mother particularly in the early days but after the age of one it falls away,” she said, according to the Mail Online.

“After that there isn’t a huge amount – lots of books to read. Everybody experiences the same struggle.”

Catherine and William are also parents to Prince George, who was born in July 2013, and Princess Charlotte, who was born in May 2015.
